Mélanie Arcand
Mélanie Arcand is a mixed media painter, her works are sprinkled with illusions and showcase intricate universes inspired by the complexities that surround her. Interested in the concept of duality, her paintings are an amalgamation of control and the unknown. Throughout her work, the elements of colour and linework intermingle and contrast each other beautifully, the penciled linework coexists alongside her bold brush strokes signifying where vulnerability confronts force. Her process brings transparency to the surface, as she delves into the depths of her daydreams
Mélanie Arcand was born in 1981, currently, she lives and works in Chambly, Quebec. In 2002, she completed her studies in visual art and multimedia integration. She subsequently studied commerce and pursued a career in management for several years. Soon after she returned to painting in 2014. Finding inspiration from ancient readings about the feeling-landscape, she begun creating paintings that explore the relationship between the symbolic of nature and feeling.
In her free time, Arcand volunteers to run creative workshops in schools and is involved in various community projects. Interested in movement and destabilization, she has attended various artistic residencies and workshops. Over the years, she has participated in various exhibitions throughout Canada, designed a wine label for the Pas Sage collection, and her works have been acquired internationally. |
