Dominik Sokolowski
Born in Poznań, Poland in 1976, Dominik Sokolowski moved to Canada in 1989, a formative shift that broadened his worldview and helped shape the artistic voice he is known for today. He studied Arts and Design at the Université du Québec en Outaouais, where he refined the techniques and visual language that quickly set him apart as a painter. Early in his career, Sokolowski developed the bold, layered, and architectural style that has become his signature.
His latest series, Mosaic of Time, continues his exploration of how personal and collective moments are broken apart, reassembled, and reinterpreted. Inspired by history, architecture, and lived experience, the series treats time as a constellation of overlapping fragments rather than a straight line. Through his distinctive approach to layering—where forms accumulate, dissolve, and reconfigure—Sokolowski creates visual “mosaics” that echo the fluid, nonlinear nature of memory.
Each work invites viewers to pause, look closely, and consider how the past, present, and imagined future interact. As the artist explains, “Time is rarely experienced as a straight line. We carry moments with us, revisiting and reshaping them. This series reflects that process—how fragments of experience can form new meanings when brought together.” |
